At the 33rd Annual Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County Rendezvous at Fisher Island, Lawrence F. De George & Lorena Perozo, donated $1 million from their Foundation to honor Rita & Rick, the event founders. Since Rick’s passing Rita, Ryan and Raquel carried on the Rendezvous with great success. The donation commitment stated “In recognition and admiration of Rita and Rick’s untiring efforts to the BOYS & GIRLS RENDEZVOUS and Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County, the founders and directors of the Foundation donate ONE MILLION DOLLARS to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County to support the Clubs’ mission. Rita and Rick’s monumental efforts underscore their lifelong commitment to give back to our community and contribute to the material growth and development of our youths”. During the 3-day yachting event the focus is on fun, friendship and raising money to support the 12 Broward County Boys and Girls Clubs. The weekend event featured their signature dockside Yacht Hop and Hawaiian-themed dance party and the grand finale formal Monte Carlo themed Black Tie Gala at the Vanderbilt Mansion with a live performance by Colbie Caillat, the two-time Grammy winning artist. Kevin O’Leary, Shark Tank, spoke to the group about his thoughts on the 2022 economic outlook. The 3 days were filled with activities including presentations from some of the club members. Lawrence F. De George was inducted into the prestigious “Dream Makers Society”. Dream Makers inductees are individuals who have established a long-term commitment, played a vital role in the development of programs that had a significant impact on the organization’s success and donated over a million dollars. Larry has supported the Clubs for over 21 years and far exceeded our Dream Maker’s financial benchmark. The Town of Davie has a club named Florence A. De George, after Larry’s mother. “We celebrate Larry’s commitment and contribution to improve the lives and the future of our club members, who deserve and desire opportunity.” says Rita. “This year, the event honored my dear Rick, who founded the event and for 32 years lead the Rendezvous to raise over $50 million and I promised him we would keep raising money for the kids.” “The Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County’s Yacht Rendezvous is one of the largest gatherings of mega-yachts for charity in the world. All funds raised directly benefit the youth attending the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. We are forever grateful to Rita & Rick Case for creating and developing this mega event three decades ago and helping more than 12,000 at-risk youth it serves,” said Matt Organ, Co-CEO.
